I need to prepare this Reflection Paper. ?The purpose of the reflection paper is (surprise, surprise) to reflect on the learning and application of course material to ?my personal website. I need to provide information for each of the following sections using the ORDER/FORMAT Professors requesting. Whenever possible I need to use the course terminology discussed in class and refer back to the relevant course modules in digital marketing. Project Objective: To create a self-promotion website that will assist you in finding an internship/job.

 

In addition, you will be applying the skills/information that you are learning in our class to improve your

 

website throughout the term. The website design must be consistent with your personal brand. You

 

will also be writing a reflection paper that clearly communicates the marketing strategy behind your

 

website (see marketing strategy exercise) and how you applied the material you have learned in this

 

class to your Brand You website design. Please note that this project was adapted from one outlined in

 

the book, ?The ABC's of Marketing Yourself: A Workbook for College Students" (Edmondson and

 

Abramo, 2013). What work is involved?

 

1. Create a website using Weebly.com. You will need to START a website (and posted the url

 

address under ?Brand You?) by September 9th. You will be working on it throughout the

 

semester until December 2nd. An instructional video on how to create a website can be found

 

under the ?Brand You? link within our webcampus classroom. We will be using the ?free?

 

website software platform ? http://www.weeby.com. See specific website instructions below

 

for more information.

 

2. Insert Google Analytics Code into your website by September 9th. (See ?Brand You Website?

 

link on webcampus for details.)

 

3. Represent your personal brand online. The purpose of your website is to promote yourself

 

(and learn digital marketing skills as you go along). The content, as well as the design/look feel,

 

must be consistent with the strategy that you outline in the marketing strategy exercise. This

 

will be one location that individuals can go to in order to learn more about you. You should put

 

this address as part of your email signature, business cards, and social media accounts (e.g.

 

LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.).

4. Protect your privacy. Your website will be in the public domain. As such, you need to protect

your website (or uploaded resume) and make sure all content that you posted is professional.

5. Visit other students? websites and comment on them. An important part of class participation

 

is checking out, helping and commenting on other students? websites. I have created a

 

discussion board forum specifically to help cultivate an ongoing conversation about your

 

personal websites.

The following outlines my expectations of your website. For a more hands-on tutorial on how to create

 

a website ? please see the Weebly Tutorial link posted under ?Brand You Website?. Open up/start your website on September 9th. You will be working on your website

 

throughout the term ? applying course content to the design. On/by September 9th? I simply

 

want you to open an account on Weebly, select a template (you can change it later) and publish

 

something (doesn?t have to be anything) ? to get a url that you can post on that date. When you

 

open up an account ? use a name that you would want on your website address. I would

 

encourage you to try to get something close to your name (i.e. your Brand Name). Chances are

 

someone already has your name. If that is the case ? select a URL that is very close to your

 

name/would be easy for someone to think of/type. In other words ? don?t get too

 

creative/shorten your name too much. Please note that this website is ?FREE? (although

 

weebly advertising remains on your site). I do not expect you to enter your credit card

 

information. However, if you want a dedicated domain you will need to pay a monthly fee.

 

Post your URL on September 9th your ?Brand You? page. Go to our ?Brand You? page, click on

 

the edit link and post your URL next to your name.

 

Insert Google Analytics Code by September 9th (See ?Brand You Website? link on webcampus

 

for details.)

 

Insert appropriate SEO term/words into the content of your website AND into the weebly

 

platform (i.e. meta description, etc.) (See ?Brand You Website? link on webcampus for details.)

 

Apply course content to your Brand You Website. You will be required to reflect and apply

 

what you are learning in your class to the design of your website. I will be expecting application

 

of website design, usability/buyer?s journey, search engine optimization and

 

analytics/monitoring concepts. Outside of directly applying the concepts in the design of your

 

website you will be asked to briefly discuss them in your reflection paper (see reflection paper

 

instructions).

 

Integrate Marketing Strategy Exercise in the website design/content. The Marketing Strategy

 

Exercise is all about creating your personal brand. As such, the information you develop ?

 

defining word, personal statement, positioning, successful experiences, user persona, etc. ?

 

should all be reflected in your website efforts. For examples of how some students integrated

 

personal branding information, see the examples found on the first page of these instructions.

 

2 Brand [You] Website/Reflection Paper Instructions F2016 Customize. This page is about Brand YOU. Therefore, I am not going to dictate a specific

 

website template, color, or even number of pages. That said, there are certain websites

 

templates that work better for this type of assignment and certain types of information that

 

MUST be conveyed on your website (see below).

 

Content. Your website must contain the following:

 

o Highlight your defining word

 

o Include a professional photo of yourself

 

o Include your personal statement

 

o Your point of differentiation should be clearly communicated

 

o Highlight your successful experiences

 

o Include your resume (DO NOT INCLUDE PHONE NUMBER)

 

o Consideration of user personas

 

Go beyond the ordinary. Ideally, I would like you do more than the basics. Some additional

 

items to consider for your website:

 

o Work samples - projects, presentations that you did well in/that you believe represent

 

your brand/work ability.

 

o Social media links ? LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook (only if EVERYTHING is professional on

 

them)

 

o Video of yourself ? video introduction/resume/elevator pitch

 

o Recommendations ? get 3-5 short recommendations from individuals.

 

o Image(s) ? if relevant ? images documenting your work/personality, etc.

 

o Buy a domain ? we are using a ?free? weebly site, so there is advertising and the URL is

 

long. If you purchase a domain you can shorten and personalize the url.

o There CANNOT be any misspellings, inappropriate images/comments, non-working links

 

on your website. Period. Your writing MUST BE VERY STRONG. Think of this complete

 

website as your online resume. If a future employer sees any mistakes they will not hire
